Today, we mourn the passing of Nohad El Shami, a humble woman whose miraculous healing through the intercession of Saint Charbel became a beacon of faith for countless believers around the world. Her life was a living testimony to the power of prayer, trust in God, and the enduring grace of the saints.
In 1993, Nohad suffered a severe stroke that left her paralyzed on one side of her body. Medical experts offered little hope, but Nohad and her family turned to Saint Charbel for help. On the night of January 22nd, she dreamt of two Maronite monks standing by her bedside, one of them being Saint Charbel. In the dream, he performed surgery on her neck while reassuring her of his intercession. When she woke up, the impossible had become reality—her paralysis was gone, and she bore two surgical wounds on her neck as proof of the divine intervention.

From that moment on, Nohad dedicated her life to honoring God and Saint Charbel’s intercession. Following the instructions she received in her dream, she began visiting Saint Charbel’s monastery in Annaya on the 22nd of every month, a tradition she continued until her passing. This practice became a cherished pilgrimage for thousands of faithful, who gather monthly to pray, give thanks, and seek Saint Charbel’s intercession.
Nohad’s story was not just about her miraculous healing—it was about a life transformed by faith. She quietly shared her testimony with those who sought hope and healing, inspiring believers and skeptics alike. Her journey reminds us of the power of trusting in God’s will and the miracles He works through the saints.
As we say goodbye to Nohad, we celebrate her remarkable faith and the life she lived as a vessel of God’s grace. May her soul rest in peace in the eternal embrace of the Father, and may her story continue to inspire those seeking a miracle in their lives.
“I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live.” (John 11:25)
